Solo Show - On The Waterfront

I'll be performing a solo set at this year's On The Waterfront in Rockford, IL on Sat Sept 4.  My set will be sometime between 3-5pm on the Oasis Stage.  This performance is the final round of Guzzardo's Music Emerging Artist Competition and names will be drawn for set times for the 3 acts.

Like Pioneers, L'Altra Releases

Under the name Like Pioneers, I got together with members of Bound Stems, the Narrator, Chin Up Chin Up, Vacations, and a whole host of other bands over two weekends in December and January to record Piecemeal.  The album has 10 songs, but we've included an extra track from a previous recording session named Paloma.  Right now it is only available digitally at LikePioneers.bandcamp.com.  It is set up to pay-what-you-should.  Enjoy :)  Piecemeal is scheduled for a fall release on Abandoned Love Records.

This past year the band L'Altra brought me into the studio on drums to experiment with some more aggressive sounds for their new record Telepathic.  Our collaboration will be available for your ears later this year.   L'Altra is releasing a 7 inch on Acuarela Records followed by the full-length Telepathic on & Records (Japan) in November.  It will eventually be available worldwide on Acuarela in early 2011. More on this as it develops.

In other studio news, I'll be in working on the third Paper Arrows record in August as well as drumming for Madison band Daniel and The Lion.  In addition, Cameron McGill & What Army will be touring in Sept and Oct with a new tour EP called Deserters that will include tracks from the forthcoming full-length Is A Beast due out in 2011.

Emerging Artists Competition + Free Download

Round 2 of the Emerging Artist Competition 2010 takes place this Saturday 6/26 at Weekend in the Park in Davis Junction, IL.  Guzzardo Performance Music (Rockford, IL) is sponsoring the event and the winner of this round will perform at Rockford's On The Waterfront.  My set is at 2pm.

Global Groove Chicago is offering up some free music downloads this summer.  They have chosen my mbira tune Burden to be a part of their 12 free "digital tracks from diverse cultures."  Available on their website and on download cards to be passed out at Chicago street festivals this summer.

Please visit my Photo/Video page to view 2 new videos.  The Buddy Nuisance video was directed and produced by Joe Grzeskowiak (Jenny Lewis, Mute Math, Taking Back Sunday) for Unitus Productions.  It was filmed at IV Lab Studios and various Chicagoland locations and features Phoenix from American Gladiators.

The Cory Chisel and The Wandering Sons video is my first performance with the band in Bonn, Germany on WDR's Rockpalast.

Benefit for the American Cancer Society - June 2nd

The next performance will be an event for the Rock N' Roll Chicago 1/2 Marathon and will benefit the American Cancer Society.  This show will take place on Wednesday June 2nd at Schubas in Chicago.  The $20 ticket gets you:

• Entry to concert
• 2 drink tickets good for soda, beer, wine and vodka drinks
